My educational philosophy is a holistic approach where all children can learn if they are given the right support, tools and leadership for their current abilities. All children learn differently and by creating a safe, happy and healthy environment, all children may flourish and grow through support and guidance by teachers, peers and parents.
Children learn by doing, also known as kinesthetic learning. Allowing a child to touch, smell, taste, see and hear their surroundings allows a child to fully understand the depths of their learning. This roots my educational beliefs:
I believe Play and Project-based learning is very important in an early learners’ environment. Through play, early learners grow a sense of social and emotional needs and desires.
I believe play is it’s own language where children can express themselves freely and with each other.
I believe community to be a large part of the early years learning: community within the classroom, community within the school and community outside of school and in the home.
I believe children should have a voice at a very early stage in their education process and they should be heard and listened to on all levels.
I believe fully supporting a child’s ideas while meeting and help support all and any social and emotional needs they may have.
Most of all, as an educator, I believe it is extremely important to model lifelong learning to early learners by exploring and sharing interests and hobbies I have as well and bringing that into the classroom environment, whether through hobbies and/or professional development.
